From printed complexity to a scalable digital experience

Project overview
The Interactive Program is a digital congress tool that allows attendees to search, filter, and save sessions before, during, and after the event. It replaced a printed program that was costly, static, and obsolete the moment it was printed.
Role & scope
I led end-to-end UX/UI as the only designer on the team, working in a trio with a product manager and a full-stack developer. I owned information architecture, user flows, interaction design, and the visual system from concept to launch.
Problem
Printed programs were expensive to produce, impossible to update, and obsolete the moment the congress ended. A digital version existed as a complement, but when the pandemic forced a fully digital format, its limitations became critical: poor structure, confusing filters, and a frustrating experience for attendees.
Hypothesis
Restructuring the information architecture and simplifying filtering and navigation would help attendees find sessions faster, while eliminating printing costs and operational overhead for organizers.
Research
We started by reviewing feedback from users of the previous version, identifying the most common friction points:
Too many colors creating confusion
Filters that were hard to use
Information too dense to read
Layout not optimized for mobile
Competitive analysis
We then conducted a competitive analysis of similar tools used at other congresses to identify strengths and opportunities.
